Inspired By Pilates Apparatus
Pilates is a system comprised of exercises on the Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels. The work on the equipment was created and designed to ultimately help strengthen your mat practice. This category allows us to experience the similarities and nuances when bringing movement patterns first used on the apparatus onto the mat. Keep in mind that props and apparatus are intended to tailor and better enhance your experience. You are still doing the work, the equipment doesn't magically do it for you.
Pilates Mat is an intentional movement method that follows a set of principles and an order for a reason. With well-rounded exercise programming, you’ll improve body awareness, mobility, strength through efficient breath and movement patterns. This is not the class to go on auto-pilot! My hope for you, is that over time, you will learn how the body works as a system through my holistic cueing and exercise progression. Coming back to Pilates Mat can be a humble reminder that mental connections are equally as important and challenging as the physical.
Pure Pilates Mat
This category is designed for the workouts that are not quite purely Pilates. As a way to stay true to Pilates and honor what Pilates is and also what it is not, this category is for all the workouts that live within that grey area. By utilizing principles and exercise concepts from strength training, functional movement and more, this genre is where we leave the technicality of Pilates while still incorporating some of it's most valuable concepts in a contemporary manner.
